Health department officers in Silchar, Assam, sealed five unlicensed dental clinics during a special campaign in the Karimganj area.
Five private dental clinics were shut down for violations, including operating without licensing or sufficient documentation, by a team led by district magistrate (Karimganj) Bikram Chasa, the joint director of health services, Dr. Samsul Alam, and police officers.
“We carried out the raid following an order of the Karimganj deputy commissioner after several complaints about illegal clinics in the town. Though we are yet to file FIRs against the clinics, we have submitted our reports to the DC. Further action will be taken according to the instructions of the deputy commissioner,” said Dr. Samsul Alam.
Along with this, raids were also carried out on three other private nursing homes where they found a lot of discrepancies. They have seized the papers and will take action after adequately investigating the matter. The officials ensured that this drive of sealing the illegally functioning clinic will continue and no one will be allowed to run a healthcare practice without a properly recognized registration of the degree and fulfillment of proper norms.
“ Anyone found indulging in unlawful activity will be booked in the interest of public and patient care,” added Dr.Alam.
