Shawqi holds two degrees (dental and medical degree). After qualifying in 1998, he has worked in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery units across Ireland, U.K. He has been awarded with the prestigious membership of Royal College of Surgeons of England and Ireland, and with a Fellowship in Oral Surgery and Oral Medicine from the Royal College of Surgeons of Ireland.
