The Tamil Nadu Dental Councilhas clarified that it is for dentists to practice any dermatology-related procedures and that any such actions by dentists will be dealt with a penalty and strict action in response to a recent complaint about dentists practicing cosmetology and dermatology.

Many private dentistry clinics promote themselves as a one-stop shop for all aesthetic-based dental and skin procedures due to the rising demand for various aesthetic and dermatology-related operations. Several clinics frequently post advertisements for these operations on social media sites including Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube.

After receiving a complaint from the Dermatology Association of Coimbatore regarding a dentist who practiced and marketed themselves as a skin doctor in the area, the Tamil Nadu Dental Council made it clear that any dentist claiming to be a Dermatologist, skin specialist, Cosmetologist, clinical trichologist, or facial aesthetic practitioner or anyone doing dermatology related procedures like aesthetics and dermatological procedures will be subjected to strict action.
