Synthetic Diamond Powder
What This Product Is
Synthetic diamond powder is loose, dry monocrystalline synthetic diamond, graded by micron size and supplied by the carat. Each particle is a single synthetic diamond crystal with sharp edges that cut aggressively and predictably. As a dry abrasive it lets a lab charge polishing cloths and laps, mix its own suspensions or pastes to a chosen concentration and carrier, or lap directly — with more control and better bulk economy than a ready-made product.
Intended Use in Metallography
Used across intermediate and fine polishing (and coarser lapping with larger micron sizes), it is commonly selected when:
- A lab wants to control diamond concentration and carrier itself
- Charging cloths, laps, or making custom suspensions and pastes
- Bulk purchasing by the carat is more economical than pre-made product
- A general-purpose, sharp-cutting diamond is wanted
Typical Applications
Commonly used for:
- General metals and alloys
- Steels and ferrous materials
- Charging polishing cloths and laps
