The ORB Smartguard is a high-tech, custom-fit gadget that can track a range of health and fitness data while being worn in the mouth like a mouthguard. This involves, among other things, heart rate, motion, and head impact.
The device represents a whole new approach to wearable technology than anything we have seen previously. Using the mouthguard while participating in sports or other physical activities will give athletes, coaches, and trainers access to useful information that will help them perform better and lower their risk of injury.
The device is made by ORB Innovations, a firm based in London. ORB Smartguard, which has been under development for about five years, is made especially for contact and combat sports like boxing, rugby, field hockey, and others. The business has been doing testing with clubs from the Rugby Football League, Allianz Premier 15s, and RFU Championship since 2019.
ORB Smartguard is, as its name suggests, primarily a mouthguard. In that way, it was produced utilizing the same premium EVA material utilized in conventional mouthguards.
Twenty distinct performance and activity parameters will be tracked once it is put in the mouth. Information on heart rate, average heart rate, heart rate zones, maximum and minimum heart rates, exposure to head impacts, steps, distance, movement intensity, active calories, and other parameters are also included. All of this can assist in determining how hard one should train in order to reach match intensity.
