Dental Workers Need More Vitamin D3 Before Returning To High-Risk Jobs.

The current normal range of vitamin D3 is 30 to 100 ng/ml. Researchers are studying vitamin D for its possible connections to several medical conditions, including diabetes, high blood pressure, cancer, and autoimmune conditions such as multiple sclerosis.

Dental staff members already work in one of the highest-risk occupations, says Dr. David C. Pageof SmilePage® Health Institute. According to a recent research, low level of vitamin D is associated with higher risk of COVID-19.

New research says a vitamin D blood-level under 31ng/ml (30-100ng/ml is normal) dramatically raises the risk of elevated COVID-19 symptoms, or even death. That combination of low vitamin D and risky job makes it crucial for all those working in a dental office to be treated for VDD before going back to the job.

Vitamin D deficiency is a decade old globally ignored pandemic which is also known as ‘King of all silent killers’. As studies have proved that VDD decreases immunity and increases the risk of many infectious diseases, it is very important to address this pandemic in order to effectively fight with the current COVID-19 pandemic.

People who are more vulnerable to COVID-19 include diabetics, the obese, the elderly, nursing home residents, meat processors, Blacks, Hispanics and Native Americans. People in these groups have a much higher risk for severe COVID-19 sickness and death. Studies show these groups also have uniquely high rates of VDD.

Vitamin D3 and sunshine can greatly reduce the risk to occupational infectious diseases in dental staff members. Both of these together will help boost the immune system, improve mental health and overall health and reduce the risk of COVID-19 thus saving many lives.
